Welcome!

I’m Bruce - A keynote speaker, adaptive athlete, and advocate for thinking beyond either/or.

Bruce Mezan helps audiences navigate complexity, embrace paradox, and discover what becomes possible when we make room for more than one truth. Through deeply personal storytelling and hard-earned perspective, he brings audiences a practical way to approach conflict, accountability, leadership, and change.

ONE MOMENT CHANGED EVERYTHING

In 2020, I was struck by a drunk driver while riding my motorcycle. The collision nearly killed me, leaving me with catastrophic injuries, months of rehabilitation, and ultimately the loss of my right leg.

Surviving was only the beginning.

I was angry.

I was grateful.

I was broken.

I was alive.

The Shift: From injury to insight

As I rebuilt my life, I began wrestling with questions that didn’t have simple answers. I wanted the young man responsible for the crash to be held accountable. At the same time, I began wondering whether one terrible decision should define an entire human life.

Eventually, I chose to meet the young man responsible while he was incarcerated. Through a restorative justice Victim-Offender Dialogue, what began as anger and an instinctive desire for revenge became a deeper exploration of accountability, dignity, curiosity, and human connection.

I discovered something that would ultimately shape my work:

Accountability and humanity can coexist.

LIFE DIDN’T GO BACK TO NORMAL. IT BECAME SOMETHING NEW.

Today, I’m a keynote speaker, adaptive athlete, peer mentor, advocate, husband, and father. I mentor people adapting to limb loss, works alongside organizations including MADD and restorative justice communities, and continue to challenge myself physically and intellectually.

My experience taught me that some of life’s most meaningful possibilities aren’t found by choosing between competing truths, but by becoming curious enough to hold both.

THINK BIGGER. CHOOSE BOTH.
